About Lake County Center for Independent Living:
The Lake County Center for Independent Living (LCCIL) is a not for profit cross-disability organization that is run by and for people with disabilities. The Center provides services and support that empower youth and adults with disabilities to lead more full and independent lives. Each year, the Center serves more than 2,000 Lake County residents, most of whom live within the low income level. LCCIL does not charge for services, and relies on the generosity of corporations, foundations and individuals to keep its programs running and expanding.
Key Center Programming includes:
- Employment Readiness and Leadership Programs for youth and adults with disabilities;
- The Independence Fund, which provides rental assistance, clothing, and household goods to people who are transitioning from institutionalized care facilities into homes of their own;
- Independent Living Skills training to help people with disabilities learn to live on their own within the community, and;
- Advocacy and Community Organizing, which supports issues and initiatives important to the disability community at the local, state and national level.
