Explains your rights as a person with a disability, the educational rights of children with disabilities, effective methods of addressing discrimination, and the importance and ease of becoming actively involved in the legislative process. The center also provides advocates to assist people with disabilities or the parents of children with disabilities in addressing discrimination and various other disability related issues.

Independent Living Skills

Offers one-on-one assistance in learning how to find your own housing, using public transportation, applying for benefits, planning a budget, using TTY, gaining freedom from a nursing home, advocating for yourself, and many other skills.

Information & Referral

Provides answers to questions about equipment, transportation, housing, employment or training, other available services, and other disability related questions.

Peer Counseling

Offers interaction with other people with disabilities in either one-on-one meetings, or in support groups to share skills and experiences; encourages a new sense of self-awareness, self-acceptance, and a personal dignity as a person with a disability.

Community Reintegration Project

Deaf Services

Diana Nelson, certified ASL interpreter, is available each Wednesday at the Department of Human services office in Waukegan for deaf consumers.
Appointments are preferred.
